Findhorn is lovely, but the prices seem high is that the best deal you can get?Maybe I’m out of touch but £700 seems a lot. There nothing cheaper at Nairn?

I have not looked in Nairn yet, but will have a look around now you mentioned it. The Findhorn yard is at a pretty site though !!

I believe Nairn is tidal - certainly for deep draught yachts, I have a friend who used to live there but has to keep his yacht in Lossiemouth. Check it out!

For transport try Magic lighthouse (don't ask, I don't know!) 01922632034 / 07973549934 They have a discovery towing commercially with a tacho which should be just about up to it. They weren't particularly cheap, but were the most helpful and flexible people I spoke to when I needed a boat moved to a deadline.

Findorn is tidal as well with access restricted to about an hour either side of low tide. However other ribsters say they don't have a problem with the shallow drafts. I will look into Lossiemouth though.
cheers

With the decline in North Sea fishing, Buckie is turning into a leisure port too.

This link may be of use to you if you've not already been there.

Our interest is a bit similar because the first real trip of the new boat is likely to be up the east coast, along the firth and into the Caledonian Canal. But, Scotland is often stormy in October. I would be nice to be in the canal for the autumn colours though.
