Travelling with your boat, Rib or Sib

One of the great joys of boating for us is towing our boat to different locations around the UK. I tend to only tow unbraked trailers these days as salt water, Trailers and Brakes dont play well together.

We can tow with our small motor home but dont like putting that down a slipway, You cant tow a caravan and a boat but can of course take a sib with this set up. We have also a small micro camper that we converted from a Toyota Previa which is 23 years old but only done 80K miles. We find this and a driveaway awning to work well. We also found this lovely camp site in Brixham which is very boat friendly.

Video below of our camping set up and Wall Park camp site in Brixham.... We try and do it comfortably

Was wondering how others travel with their boats

We've been looking for a decent campsite in that part of the world since Little cotton closed at the top of the hill outside Dartmouth.
But we prefer to be on the other side of the Dart to have better road access to Beesands, Torcross etc.

We go big with camping, but then the bigger the boat the bigger camping trailer it turns in to.

Looks like a nice campsite.

What's the slipway like (steep/shallow, price, hours of use around tides)?
Is it straightforward to launch from a beach?

The slipway in Brixham is very wide and was originally built for the Invasion in WW2. There never seems to be anyone to pay to launch so you could say it is free. Parking within 30 yards of the slip costs about £10 for the day. You can launch at the slip almost all states of the tide

You can see the slip well in this video

Now I thought we went big. But that is all a size up on what I take..... Now there is a challenge

Another excellent set up. I have very similar for my Sib but the trailer is not fit for the road .

I will soon have a set up where I can take more than one sib. Still a little work to do on that one lol

If anyone is interested, this is the post I did about the caravan/sib/trailer set up.

https://www.rib.net/forum/f49/carava...ler-86495.html

Made a few alterations since I first did it. The trailer now has a jockey wheel, winch and I've cut the two A frame legs in half so it fits in the caravan much easier.

Would you tow that on the Road and if so how far would you risk it...... I am guessing it technically is not road legal. Or perhaps it is.

I have adapted one of these and it deffo is not road legal but is ok to tow on a camp site slowly such as parkfoot. I obviously put a hitch on it

It's completely road legal. It is a road base sailing dinghy trailer without the launching trolley.
I've been Largs and back with the trailer and Redneck (didn't have the OB on the transom) 440 mile round trip and it towed fine.
