trim tabs

at the begining of the year there was a post on trimtabs
can you report back after 6monthe to the benerfits or not of this instalation over the trimming of the engine many thanks

Best thing I ever added to a rib I have found them invaluable when heading into the rough to smooth the way and in bigger stuff being able to pin the nose down into the waves makes for a far safer and faster ride. Just make sure you get the setup right and choose the right tabs for your Rib.

Which boat are you thinking of adding them to ?

what make do you recomend ,what is the correct set up,can you explain why they are better than trimming the engine

I have gone for the Lenco Tabs, Very easy to fit.

I have set my tabs up according to the instructions from Lenco here however I do have mine set so when retracted they are slightly higher but only by about 5mm.

With regards to your third question the tabs come into their own when the engine is already fully trimmed in and you are heading into the rough stuff and you need the extra level of control to bring the nose right down. Trimming in the motor will only do so much.

The other time I use them is when I am carrying a full load of four passengers and again trying to keep the nose of the boat down for a more comfortable ride into the chop.
