Trip planning

I chaps
Just wondering if any of you plan your trips directly to your chartplotter or on a PC and save to a card, we have a garmin 450s and I feel it's a little small to get the full picture.

Hi Picky - For somewhere I don't know, ideally I plot the waypoints on my PC using Homeport and then swap to the Garmin using the SD card. I always have paper chartlets as a backup too, and they help with the overview too.

Have done directly on the unit but fiddly, as you say.

I find the split screen screen view can help too, but still not perfect.

Hope this helps

Steve

Maybe just Mac rather than Ipad (I'm a PC guy :o)

They already have an App. However it requires a WiFi module on the plotter so not an option for you.

You could buy Navionics for the iPad and transfer the co-ords once you plan the route. Handy backup on the RIB too

Same here Homeport is worth the £20 something cost but is not interchangeable between IOS and PC so decide first which operating system you want to use it on unless your happy to buy it twice for both machines
