That's an incredible result. I have a tired ribeye dive 5.4 same colour tubes that desperately need cleaning . Will the dye cope with the water, and do you put anything on top to prevent, and is there a closer to the original orange available???

Clean the tubes with Bostik Thinners... Then apply alot of Armor gloss... This can be brought in Halfords as a spray on.

No don't use that stuff, bad for the tubes. Do not use armor-all-protectant. Search and you will see as it is silicon and petroleum based it makes patching harder.

I still stand by ARMOR ... But if unsure you can play safe with 303 Aerospace protectant

Silly to risk the tubes for it but it is your tubes bud.

303 Aerospace spec... The 303 fabric protectant is the worlds most effective UV protectant spray. It helps to maintain a like-new appearance (with regular applications). It is easy to apply and can be used on materials such as natural and synthetic rubber (including our EPDM mouldings), fiberglass, vinyl and finished leather.

I agree with the problems mentioned with using silicon-based substances, but have "The Collective" any thoughts about the use of Thinners?
It was recommended to me a few weeks ago as a way of stripping back before further cleaning and them protecting, but I haven't had the courage to try it (yet).
Thoughts?
Jaba

never tried it but wouldn't risk it either as i've not noticed anyone suggesting it before on here, they may have but i don't recall it.
i do recall many saying just buy tube cleaner or TFR and dilute accordingly, that is tried and tested by lots on here.

You can't really do much damage with thinners, and it'll cut through most nasties on the tubes, just don't leave a rag on the tubes or it'll crinkle the material
If you've got the tiniest cut on your hand though it'll sting like hell haha
That's the bostik m501 thinners I'm not sure on others but it's what we use at work

303 is what I would use- thinners left whitish residue on mine - Even says on 303 back of bottle for use on hypalon.
