Tube manufacturing

Hi

Thinking of having ago at making some new tubes in P.V.C .from scratch.

Can you give me any advice on how to do it, Can you get drawing or plans, do you glue joints or H.F. weld them I have experience in manufacturing in pvc material i.e. commercial vehicle curtains & cover we use hf welders for this.

Any help would be appreciated

Hi Paul
I will ring you soon for some advice.

No Im not mad I have a full roll of the material sent to me as a sample when I
expressed a interest in having a try at making a tube, So you can understand the reason why I want to try it in PVC.
I know that cheaper ribs are made from PVC can anyone tell me the pros & cons between hypalon & pvc??.

p.s. I buy large quanaties of pvc vehicle curtain material from this company so the free samples will not be avalable to all.

Norman

Good luck. I remember seeing an article in Motorboat Monthly magazine or some name like that about a group that scratch built a 7 metre diesel rib. It was green in colour and it looked good when finished. They did the whole lot from designing the hull, making the plug & mould, installing the engine and making the tubes. I do recollect however that the first set for some reason were scrapped but the second set were up to par. An interesting project. If I can i will look out the article and post it.

Nev, thats going back a bit. they were in Dover and sold the rib to pay for a Offshore 105 hardboat in the end (I think), or at least the bare hull which was fitted out. Seem to remember they bought a Mermaid and sternpower drive from the boat scrapyard in Pompey for the rib. That rib was mentioned on here a couple of years ago, wonder were it is now ?
