TV Program

You may like to know that an 8 part series called "Danger on the Beach" is due to be broadcast soon on BBC1.
The series will start on Wednesday the 17th March and continue for the following 7 weeks, at the same time, at 19.00 hours, just before Eastenders.
It is not clear to me if this is only being broadcast in the South-West?
However, the series deals with a number of events that happenned around the S/W peninsular last year, and features our very own David Hickman (http://www.powerboat-instruction.co.uk ), who has modestly decided not to mention it here himself.
The action takes place mainly in Torbay, Dartmouth, Falmouth and Newquay and also features the work of our emergency and volunteer maritime services.

This program series must not, of course, be allowed to distract your attention from Mr. Priddy and Co's magnificent efforts on the Geographic Channel called "Total Adventure" on the 19th March.

Gosh I am so excited I think I will go and set the video now!

Here's an excerpt from Clive Tully's press release about "Total Adventure":

"Fitting into a half hour slot inevitably means that there are chunks of the story missing or glossed over, but it does successfully capture the flavour of what is after all, a unique moment in powerboating history. And if as you watch it, you think "blimey, that looks rough", console yourself with the thought that those were actually the less violent moments. When it was really rough, Alan Priddy, Steve Lloyd and Clive Tully were more intent on avoiding injury, not to mention damage to the video gear."

It's on the National Geographic Adventure One Channel at 8pm on March 19. Somebody video it for me please!

John

Hi folks

Good program but almost impossible I felt, to fit it all in 30 minutes.

If people havnt read Clives book, do so.

The TV program gives you the idea but I dont think it gives the real feeling like the book did.
If you liked the program I think you will love the book.

Either way book or TV still a wonderful achievement.

Regards Gary

Gary's absolutely right - Those that haven't read Clive Tullys 'Confronting Poseidon' should.

It's available from:

Offshore Publishing
Suite 11
Portsmouth Enterprise Centre
Quartremaine Road
Portsmouth
PO3 5QT

20squid i think.

I'll try and find a tel. No. and let you know.

Although the half hour prog was good, it only really scratches the surface of what those guys went through. Get the book and see for yourself - impossible to put down!!
