would this help
http://www.filtrationdepotonline.com...tor-12v-h.html
I guess they do a 24 volt version
I accept the freezing point of petrol is considerably lower but depending on the additives diesel can get close - 50c. My experience of marine engines is that a diesel is a lot luss fussy and more reliable than outboards hence my comments and diesl is usually easier to get hold of.
To be honest I;ve not worked in much below 0 so i'd be interested in what they run like in colder places like yours

just out of curiosity I googled "Etec outboard problems" got 25 300 results. Same search for "Yamaha DF problems" got 25 800 results. Hardly scientific, but ALL engines have problems. You pays your money & takes your choice.

Had the boat out a number of days last year during the really cold weather, one of the days the airtemp was -7 and it had been below freezing for several days. The engines fired up no problem as usual and run perfectly, it was the humans that froze solid!

I can remember about 25 years ago(when diesel was cheaper than petrol ) having to put additive in the diesel in winter to stop it waxing up. Things have changed a lot since then, diesel is a more refined & has all the additives premixed. I know Shell start delivering their "winter mix" to service stations around October.

Interesting bit of kit - budgets are tight at work at the moment but that would be handy unfortunately we'd need four of them
They run fine when the fuel is good, its the variability that is the problem. Fuel contamination in storage tanks ranges from the obvious water, through fuel that waxes horribly even above freezing (which is what I have in the bottle at work - at room temp it is clear, at fridge temp it is totally solid) and the other problem here is that sometimes (like about once every couple of years) the tanker that brings diesel has residues of FFO left in the tanks and everybody's filters block up with black sludge
Once it is clean and in the boat there is usually no problem as the sea temp - while only a few degrees above freezing - keeps the onboard tank temps in the boat fairly constant.

You can if it's got HPDI (High Probability of Destructive Incident) written on the side also the guys I know who work with engines for a living say that Yamaha warranties suck because Yamaha's stance is that their engineering could not be at fault.
Anybody here actually running a single 300 on a 8m rib and if so can you use all the power or does it become iffy to control towards the top end og the power band
