Just got back from a fantastic morning on the Solent , on the way home popped into a local bay on the north shore of the 'west wight' to see if one of my mates was afloat. Got close to the beach and there's this red tender / sib tearing round, ferrying people from moored craft to a restaurant on the beach. After watching him for five minutes and catching up with my mate the red tender approaches us and asked if we've booked for lunch, I declined and then said was he aware that within the yellow buoyed area - shore side ( which we were well inside ) that it was a 10knot speed limit and as a regular of the area we see many swimmers and kids in the bay, this chap replied he was busy and had a lot of people to pick up!!!! I then said that being 'busy' is no excuse for disregarding basic safety, ignoring a local bylaw and respect for other users of the bay! To this he turned around, gunned his throttle and torn off.............(no sign of any PFD or kill cord
)
My mate said the chap was from London and he regularly sends staff out to collect customers from there boats with no safety kit!
Unbelievable!
