"Pains Wessex issues product recall
British safety equipment manufacturer Pains Wessex has recalled a number of its White Collision Warning (MK7) Hand Flares following an incident in which a member of the public was badly injured. The Lot Numbers of the batches being recalled are 2045 and 2046. This number is ink-jetted on the tube of the flare itself.
The UK's Health and Safety Executive (HSE) and Trading Standards has launched a formal investigation into the incident, which caused serious injury to a Yachtmaster Instructor during a safety demonstration of a white hand-held flare on April 5, 2006.
The flares in question were sold on their own and as part of the Collision Warn-Off Kit and the ORC RORC Distress Kit. If you have a flare with either Lot Number, return it immediately to the place of purchase where it will be replaced. No other Pains Wessex products are being recalled.
If you are unable to return it to the place of purchase, take it to your nearest chandler or telephone Pains Wessex on Tel: 44 (0)2392 623962 or e-mail
