Useful Books and info

Can anyone recommend any useful books to get for use of Radio equipment, GPS equipment, Also general rules of boating as well as cruising?

For VHF, I think Tim Bartletts new book (available from the RYA shop - www.rya.org.uk) is pretty good.

US-centric, I think, but "Chapman Piloting" is pretty good. There are now about 3 or 4 variations ("C P and small boat handling", "C P and Seamanship", etc., but CP was and remains, I think the "boating bible" over here.)

Should be able to find it on Amazon pretty easily. Retail price is near $60, but a lot of places clear them out fairly regularly (I think I paid $28 for mine, and was promptly informed that someone else picked up a copy the same day for $19.)

Fernhurst do a good range of self help books! you may also find that the Manuals of the equipment, although tedious to read, are packed with info
