It was over ten years ago but the back two pins just need to be excited a bit to get them in the correct position. The older the lock the easier it is due to general wear. Yales locks were the biggest disappointment to me as at the time that's all I had on my front door.
Back onto subject you want a balance between the insurance companies requirements and not encouraging the tea-leafs to damage your boat.
At the end of the day if they want your boat there doing to have it.
