Valiant 490 DR

Anyone got any experience of these?
I've spotted one local going for £3.5 with a 60 mercury on it. They look like a reasonably capable boat but just wondering about other views on handling?
Cheers boys!
Tim

I had one a few years ago with a suzuki df 70 on it . It was ok , shallow v hull and not the comfiest ride i have experienced but at that price if its sound its a good buy .
The tubes are PVC so be careful if its getting old or been left in the sun .
I felt the df70 was too heavy for my boat so it may be better with a similar powered lighter 2 stroke .

Mine always filled with some water in the hull void and i could never find where it came from , so remove the bung after its been afloat , it could be a problem if it was on the water for more than a day .
Check for cracking around the transom supports .

Don't do it, I had a DR400 and the quality of the hull was not good but I thought the tubes were ok. The hull was way to shallow V for me.

I have an SR 4.7 in the for sale section, I'm not pushing it on you but it will be a lot better than the DR490 by miles

the avon is much better quality boat i agree , but to campare the dr 400 with the 490 is like comparing your searider to the little avon adventure rib . its a tiny lightwieght tender 1.75 beam rated to 30hp .

I agree, but I have had two, 340 and a 400, both tubes were good but the hulls were very fragile.

I tried a friends Valiant V490 - looked a reasonable build quality but with only one up it chine walked like crazy at 29-30knots.
may have been a set up issue but I didn't like it
