to be fair you can,t go wrong with a valiant for the money
they will do the job well
the vanguard range have gp hulls that are both well suited speed and will take
some rough sea states. not the best british weather boat in the vanguard form due to the rear seating layouts. pushing the weight rear will bring problems when fighting the essex coast in a force five and i would know .
if you are going to use the boat for nice days out in the sun that what the
vanguard are build for
i think the 520 with a 60 hp would be a bit under power. but the yam is a very good engine they recomend a 75 hp
keep away from the 4.90 as most of the size is made up by tube over the 4.50 i think you get about 200mm more hull don,t seem worth it to me
ive had the following valiant ribs
vanguard 4.50 with a 40hp two stroke
dr4.50 with a 50 hp mercury two stroke
i changed the brand new vanguard after six months as i found its not suited to the british weather and sea states i was going out in
the new dr i have as a jockey seat set up which brings the weight forward witch allows better speed over choppy seas
all so the gp hulls from the 2.70 to the 4.90 are solas appoved fully sealed and will float with all the tubes deflated worth a thought
ive inclosed four pics both my 4.50m and one with waynes pt 520 valiant
