Very silly engine advice needed

I've been using a 9.5m rib with 400hp on the back. I had it entered in the around Alderney race on Thursday (and I would have won) but due to circumstances, I had to leave it in Guernsey on Friday. So....I can either watch it pi**ed from the shore, man a safety boat....or strap my 90hp 1979 merc straight six to a 4.5m wood floored rib. I've got volunteers willing to add balast to the front and look for rocks....!! but my wife says I'm being silly. Mind you, you should have heard what the ballasts' wife called him when he explained it.

Is it worth sacrificing the expendable crew or am I just being silly now.

Alternative, does some one have a rib they fancy racing on Thursday

I think your wife's got the right idea.

Why can't you fetch the RIB back from Guernsey?

No unfortunately not, it is being use for non boating purposes this week.

we have now looked at the inflatable (sorry rib) with a techincal eye, and we feel that providing we keep it moving we should float. We are probably looking at a beach launch where we can find a narrow gulley. Will try and get photo's....maybe

I should explain for those who have not attended Alderney week; this race come somewhere between the man powered flight event off the quay and the allcomers raft race across the bay...just after the officially organised all night beach party, bonnet parade and karaoke night. Let's just say, my idea sounds quite feasible in that context.

In that case it sounds like using a proper RIB would be cheating

As the morning dawns and the hangover sets in, I realise that perhaps we were'nt being very sensible yesterday. So, how about a 60hp Suzuki?
