Seems like all the mounts that come with VHF radios are pretty flimsy. For those of us that can't flush mount, any recommendations on an aftermarket mount or system?
Most are simply plastic. Most are also just a squared off U shaped bit that hold the radio at each side and bolt to the mounting surface at the bottom. Would be a snap to make your own out of aluminum or stainless.
Though, to be honest, I can't remember seeing a VHF mount fail, either. The radio's themselves, yes, the mounts, no.
