WAFI comes up with a 'good idea'.
Don't know about you guys, but I'm none too happy about the idea of 300m strings of monofilament kept on the surface by the equivalent of fishing floats and left to drift.
MoBuoy - an innovative life saving device.
The inventor is telling people what a good idea it is over on YBW at the moment.
Two-handed MOB - do what first? ......Deploy MOBUOY??

Great idea - end up with a MOB and one to several immobilised boats drifting around!

Good idea - but I'd worry about the line too. Having been caught and immobilised by a lobster pot line with six crew on-board I'm always wary about lines left floating about unmarked and unattended.

I dont know if any of you have seen the chopper devices that many wafi's have attached to their props, but they are mean looking tools, to despatch this very problem, perhaps they think we all have them
I'd assume the responsible wafi would ingather said filament ? ....

That's assuming they can find it again if there's any chop. A 38mm float with 10 yards of line to the next one isn't going to be the easiest thing to find.

Why not just press the MOB button on the GPS. Far more reliable than chucking a load of fishing gear overboard.

I agree, difficult to see in anything than calm water which = little wind, so the yacht won't be that far away!
I love the ideas that a) deploying a dan-bouy is dangerous, and that b) this relieves he crew of the arduous and unwelcome task of actually looking for your mucker!.... can't be distracted from the Pimms!
