WANTED - Lower leg for Yam 115v4
I need to find a lower leg for a 1991 Yam 115 v4 2-Stroke. Mine has a crack in it (I had it welded, however the crack has reappeared).
If anybody has one of these, with or without the gear internals, please shout.
Thanks

Might be worth talking to Kevin Mole Outboards in Cowes (Yamaha dealer) on 01983 289699.

Buy the boat, flog the trailer and hull and keep the engine bits. Its a Tim M strategy, one day we will see him doing it with large companies no doubt

Hum, Is the Yam 140 the same engine as a 115. I thought my engine HPed up to 130 max. I guess I need to know the year and model number, I will ask anyway.
The other options are:
1/ Re-weld (would get it up and moving, lowest cost, weld may fail again)
2/ Buy new case, I have one sourced at 20% discount, transfer internals
3/ Buy new box (however seems a waste as my internals are good)
4/ Buy a scrap engine and nick the part (Hard to locate a match)
I will keep looking

Andy
Went through exactly this a few months back with my 200 EFI Suzi, so I can understand your frustration.
Prompted lots of discussion on here around the use of JB Weld etc.
I was lucky, I found a used bottom end at a very good price, however I was going to get a welder to have another go.
My experiance with jobs like this and welders, is that you get what you pay for, and welders that can weld thin wall cast alloy are few and far between.
I'd advise taking a half day off and phoning every outboard dealer you can get the number for. There must be one somewhere, even if you need to buy a complete but tatty engine.
Nasher.

Yup, same box. Rumour has it that Yamaha changed the HP rating to 130 when they were found to only produce 130 hp not the 140 orginally claimed.
