PBO does an annual Marina review. Not sure if I have a copy.

This won't be all fuel but is a start.

How dockside do you need

I would love to do a Round Britain trip. Planning on doing next year, all things being equal, so this is one step of the planning.
Need to be able to fill up boat directly without using Jerry cans.

Petrol or Diesel?

Is Jerry Can 100% no. Or is a 100m walk with a can from a handy petrol station OK?

You going round the top or taking the short cut?

What about Ireland?

If you are looking for petrol on the waterside - take your map of Britain and fold it between Lismore and Aberdour. Tear along the fold. Throw away the northern “half”...

Sorry I know that’s not very helpful but you’ll need to be creative to get petrol there, to the extent that people in a hurry look at having shore crew to shuttle them to petrol stations.

Yes, buy a recent UK marine Almanac, in it you will find lots of useful information including which mariners and other places do fuel and what type. If you need this for a round UK etc then definately buy one as information in it will be very useful.

Petrol,
Problem is quantity - will be needing 100s of litres.

Taking the short cut through the canal.

Thanks for the help

Hopefully someone will prove me wrong but I think the Clyde is the only place in Scotland you'll get waterside petrol.

Puffin Divers used to sell fuel from a pump. I did hear recently that they were stopping that but not sure if it is true.

Linnhe Marine certainly used to claim they offered petrol, but have no pump - but I think they hold a small stock and by arrangement will get it for you from the garage at Appin.

There are some places where the pier and the petrol station are so close that it wouldn’t be too bad (Craighouse, Tobermory, etc) even with 100L to fill up.

Puffin has closed the pump. It’s cans and walk from dunstaffinage marina or through town and use the pontoons in oban

OP

Whatever about "darn sarf" it's a challenge "oop Nawth", never mind all the way up into "Ya whit?" territory.

There's essentially no petrol dockside, and TECHNICALLY the petrol stations aren't supposed to sell the quantities you need in cans. So you will need a workaround. Having a ground team is traditional - they can weasel out fuel in advance and supply you dockside but carrying 300L+ of petrol on the road is clearly a risk on many levels. I speak from experience. Many long distance record RIBs used petrol and they had huge temporary decktanks fitted - I think that's your best bet.

Or you know, have bought a diesel boat

You will also have to bear in mind that even when you find a petrol station, it may not be 24 hour or indeed seven days a week.

Just out of curiosity I gave them a call today. Unfortunately no petrol just diesel.
I think they were being pushed by their berth holders association to supply petrol in 2017 but the idea was dropped because they didn't feel the demand would justify it.
