Water skiing in Salcombe

Hi guys, the Salcombe and Kingsbridge Water Skiing Association has been formed with the idea of establishing a water ski area inside the estuary - the harbour master needs to gauge people reaction so if you live in the area or visit and have an opinion please email the harbour master, thanks very much! Hi,

It would be interesting to know where they propose this, probably the best area would be the lonely bit just after the bag on the way to Kingsbridge, certainly no bathers around on people on the shore to disturb.

I wonder if the new habour master is flexible to such an idea?

There is a FaceBook group (of course) SKEWA - he is receptive but it needs to go before the Harbour Board and be approved, there are a couple of proposed areas - it would help tourism and bring business to the boatyards and chandlers.

Good idea I have just sent my email!

I was very nearly hit last summer wile water skiing in Starehole, another boat was heading between me and my tow!
Didn’t know whether to let go and run the risk of being run over or stay with my tow at least giving me a chance of skiing/towed clear! Stayed with my tow and managed to keep clear of him as he noticed us right at the last min!!

Scared the cr*p out of all involved!

RIBase
A ski area within the estuary works very well in Rock.

It's tidal - but can generally be skied at least half of the day.

An email supporting the idea would be a help - don't forget to copy in ski.salcombeharbour@gmail.com

Following a meeting on Monday morning with the harbour master the proposal will go to the harbour board in September.
