Waterproof Switches

Anybody know where I can get some single waterproof rocker switches for sensible money?

My second switch panel has given up the ghost so thought I would just install single switches. Can't really justify the money for a blue sea panel!

Thanks, Luke

You could try Maplin - http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?ModuleNo=98092

These are £2.99 each. IP65 (Low pressure water jet resistant) but probably OK. If you are replacing the spade connectors on your wiring I'd recommend the duraseal type (I think that's what they're called) with adhesive heatshrink on them to prevent water going back up the wiring loom due to capiliary action. I used 4 of those fixed with a little silicone around them to stop water getting past them to the wiring behind. They have been ther 3 years now and work fine. see my post about the laser cut s/steel for brilliant mounting plates! I should be on commission!!

That would be great mate thanks, I have ordered 3 of the switches now so thanks guys for all your help. How much did it cost to get your plate made steve? I would like a plate to replace the crappy one I am removing.

Thanks again guys for your help, Luke

Too late now but EC Smith do the Carling V-series IP68 switches, which can be ordered with illumination and a legend for the actuator.

http://www.ecs-marine-equipment.co.u...item-3330.html

This is the full range but ECS don't do everything http://rocker-switches.carlingtech.c...switch__19.asp

You can also buy housing modules for the switch units - a stand-alone single unit or a combination of end and middle units that clip together (horizontally) to make a customised bank of switches.

You can't buy direct - have to go through a chandlery. You can buy direct from Index Marine (who I understand is taking on UK distribution rights) but check their prices - they seemed higher than the ECS prices.

Luke I have found a different plate (actually 4!) but you may need to carefully prune the lugs off the back of your switches. They were a prototype and they are just sitting here so let me know.
They are 12.5 by 14.5 cm and a bit sharp! They will need polishing, piccy should be enclosed hope this helps! PM an address or landline and I'll get it to you if you want it.

In my experience there is no such thing as true waterproof switches.

I have been completely round the block.

Think I've found the solution

I know its much too late now but it could help other users out.

You could try Axon Components in Leeds, I have used them a couple of times. They seem to have quite a large selection of switches and some switch tops.

they're at http://www.axoncomponents.com

If they do not have the switches you need, then I would second the recommendation and suggest EC Smith, at http://www.ecs-marine-equipment.co.uk.
