An unusually interesting article in PBO on on-line weather information. It highlights a few which I know are familiar to people here anyway:
www.windguru.cz
www.wileynautical.com (as part of its free online almanac)
and of course mentions the met office, met check etc.
However it mentioned a few sites I hadn't come across:
www.passageweather.com (this is quite nice and includes wave heights)
and
www.wetterzentrale.de (this is in german - but you can probably work it out). Forecasts 2 weeks ahead.
Its also mentions GRIB files - which require some software on your computer (they suggest
www.grib.us for windows users). (Passage weather is essentially using the same sort of data). It looks quite good - has anyone any experience of using these and their accuracy etc?
I gave up on Windows at home a wee while ago so I have installed zyGrib as my viewer (in Linux, windows version is available
www.zygrib.org [french site - but english section, and software can be set to english language]).
Thought others might be interested - if it turns out to be crap predictions I'll post back here! Would be interested in anyone else's experience with these though.
