Welding Stainless
Out yesterday, had a bit of a mishap - the welds attaching my flare box holder to the A-frame broke and it fell off! luckily it fell in-board!

Whats the scoop with welding stainless? Can I just buy some stainless welding wire for my pals mig welder (along with heaps of fire blanket)? is it good?

I broke my Ribcraft seat and Biffer fixed it in a few mins and beefed up the other welds.

So send biff a pm and post a few pics on here, it's not worth you buying the kit, trust me i've been there

Just looked at your profile. Scotland you could try bolting it on. I wouldn't use MIG welder to weld stainless. It's no precise enough. TIg gives a better job with more control

Nearly all blacksmiths, welding engineers have TIG welders nowerdays. It's not a big job to sort out, phone around.

If it is just a case or re-doing a few tack welds then you can do it with a MIG, using stainless wire. It won't be as pretty as TIG but will work. You will want to use something other than pure CO2 for the shield gas though. Get a disposable argon if your welder takes them. I'm told argoshield light or equivalent is ok for small and non structural jobs like this. Will be doing this myself when I get round to it.
