were is my HIN

I've got a Zodiac non stop 470. The hull plate has a serial number but no HIN. Is it hidden somewhere tricky, or do I need to have it inspected to get a HIN assigned? Thanks : )

Depending on its age, it may not have one. AFAIK you can’t get them issued after the fact, they are assigned during manufacture.

I believe there should be two HIN plates attached ,so to allow for one getting damaged or lost ,my US manufactured rib has one on the wet side of the transom and one in view in the seating area of the internal space neither are hidden ,but both are just ally plates with stamping details ,screwed on !

Thanks

Thanks for your replies. I understand that I can bring the boat to the police (or environmentals), they either find the HIN (but really I have scoured) or attest that there isn't one and then the RMV will give me one.
We're going to take off the outboard and it's board tomorrow on the off chance that it's under there.

The serial number is the HIN which is 12 digits long and starts with XDC. That is located on the top starboard outside of transom.it can be a aluminum plate, stamped or even engraved. Also located on transom behind the wear plate under the motor. The serie (also called type) is a much shorter number that zodiac used to identify the specific style of the hull.
