Just back from Skye again. I went from Harlosh to Neist Point in the 2.75m Frib and was like a rat up drainpipes pipes in the caves and also tried to circumnavigate all the sea stacks.
I didn’t find any caves branching off other caves but I didn't have a torch so may have missed something..but a shoal of mackerel size fish swam over the green sandy bottom in that first cave you went in Last Tango.. just as I entered it. Its the cave immediately to the left of the waterfall and another cave just to its left but was too shallow to enter.
The best cave I got in is the one between Idrigill Point and MacLeod’s maidens..it goes in a looong way and round a 90 degree bend. Not much wider than the F Rib..but I didn’t go right to the end. It sounded like someone was getting murdered in the dark. I guess it was just the cormorants ..but it was a blood curling noise coming from the dark and echoing down the long cave.
I was still video’ing leaving the cave when I heard a loud “Blow” behind me and out to sea..I turned only to glimpse a whale around 500 meters off shore. I was too slow to get it on video though . Its dorsal was bigger than a minke ..but it was just a quick glimpe and I wasn’t going out after it in my wee boat
I also did the coast from Staffin to Rubha Hunish although I didn’t go as far as the tide race. That section of coast is every bit as stunning as the Idrigill to Neist coast. In fact some parts are better although on a slightly small scale. Videos will follow when I get time although they are in a waiting list of ones to do.
