Whale & Dolphin Watching Weekend

Hello All

If you did not know, this weekend is national Whale and Dolphin watching weekend.

Keep your eyes peeled when you are all out this 'sunny' weekend and any sightings would be good if you could report them to

http://www.seawatchfoundation.org.uk/events.htm

Is all very easy to do, just mark a position on the GPS, and send it in, with what you think it is/was.

Cheers

Pete

Hi Pete

I'm as far inland as you can get this weekend (back home in Birmingham).

However last month we did see dolphins out in the firth (we were within 100 m of them) . Now that I have my gps I was able to mark their position exactly. I filled in a report form for the Dolphin Watch Foundation.

The more sightings they get the better. Also the more information, such as numbers, species, direction, water temerature, wind direction. This all helps and as dedicated rib/sib users with all of the nav equip we should be able to give all the information.

Cheers

Keith Hart

Apparently Julian and Alan saw just one in the Chanel Islands over the weekend, but I'm sorry I don't know any more. If they look at rib.net perhaps they will report in.

Came across a big beaut of a basking shark in mid-Channel on Friday. Thanks for the lead, Pete. I'll post...

Pete,

If you are in contact with the organisers of the dolphin/whale watch website, you may wish to feed back that some people have found the website almost impossible to use. Have a look at the thread under BIBOA Channel islands cruise in the Gallery.

Just passing on the info.

Regards,
Richard.

Yup, I can agree with that. I tried to post my basking shark that I found in mid-Channel and gave up. Far too difficult to use, Pete.

RIBase
Have taken your advice and e-mailed them direct....plus, of course a small whinge about their website. This seems to have been designed by someone who is familiar, in detail, with the third row of teeth back, in the lesser, spotted sea urchin, but somewhat less aquainted with the products of Mr. Gates.
