What 5.5-6M RIB
Hi, in the future we may get another RIB around 5.5-6M.
Before we had our boys the wife and I had a very nice 1998 Avon adventure D560 powered by a Merc 90.
Wish I kept it because people are asking today double what I paid for it 10 years ago!.
So if we get another Avon I would probably get a 560 or 620, however what other ribs would you recommend?.
Thanks in advance.

Just bought myself a nice 5.5m Humber Destroyer.
Been out on it half a dozen times so far and am in love. Plan on doing the run from Bangor NI to Portpatrick and down to the IOM. But have been out on it the day doing some watersports and it's a great all round boat.
Coupled with a Yamaha F100.

The Humber’s do seem good value, I will definitely look at some, does the destroyer have a descent V shaped hull?.
My Avon Adventure didn’t have a massive V but it didn’t seem to slam down on the waves as hard compared to a Ribeye 535 a friend had at the time.

All depends on what you want to use the RIB for and how many pax, pootling around estuaries, run to beach, longer cruises, distance etc....
Define your need and budget , the brands and boat will follow.

I live in Southampton and are current boat (RYDS 475) we use down the river Hamble and out in the Solent.
However if we get another RIB we would use it like our last RIB just in the Solent and going over to the Isle of Wight etc.

When I was looking I wanted a decent deep v Hull to have decent sea going capabilities. The assault has a shallower v and the destroyer a deeper v. It has a deeper v than the valiant which was another boat I was thinking of.
Had it out yesterday in moderate conditions and I was impressed compared to boats I've had in the past. So am really happy with my purchase

I think some sellers are just trying there luck, I bought a nice 1998 Avon D560 about 12 years ago and paid 5K for it, sold it 2-3 years later for 5.5K.
Just seen a 2004 D560 come up for sale locally for 13k!.
I either bought and sold mine very cheaply or they are now very expensive.

I have just had a price from Humber and they want 8.6K just for a 5.5 destroyer hull and tubes.

Pulls real nice through the water. I have the F100a (I believe) it's the last of the prep injection models. Mainly as I do all my own work and I know carbs well. So mean I can sort most of my own engine issues out myself. When it comes to electrical injection, that's just witchcraft to me... 😂
Performance wise, she tops out at 28 / 29 knots, cruises away at 25 no problem. Pulls 3 people on a towable inflatable at 20kts all day long. Haven't calculated my fuel efficiency, but don't think it's too bad either from what I've put into the tank.
Engine was a wee bit lumpy on idle, so balanced all the carbs, then she was a bit lumpy mid throttle, so a proper clean out and new plugs has that sorted today. Can't really fault any yam engine I've had tbh...
But loving my combo of destroyer and yam.
Going off the other posts above, I think RIBs are going up in price / holding their value real well. Bought a valiant d340 (or something along those lines) going back 10 years ago or so for round 3.5k. Seen boats similar age, spec and what I had fetching the same money or upwards of that now. Can't understand how it's working. But the way I look at it is, it should mean you lose little money in what you buy. (unless you pump thousands into a boat that's not worth it).
