What rib?

Hello

I’ve been debating what Rib for months now have had a couple of SIBS in the past now want something more family orientated.

Looking at something between 4 & 5m in length 60hp plus and would be using it primarily round Anglesey for family trips maybe further afield once in a while.

My problem maybe budget up to £8000.

What would you suggest

Thanks

Jon

In the current climate it's a question of negotiating on whatever comes up.

For my part I'd keep it under 750kg with an unbraked trailer for ease of handling and maintenance so 60hp is a sweet spot. You're looking at something 4.5 to 5.5m long as you say.

I had a 5m lomac with an Evinrude etec 75 until recently. The etec is a very lightweight engine and the whole outfit on an unbraked trailer weighed just under 700kgs. That boat did everything. It was joy to tow, launch and recover - even pulled out a 83kg mono skiier with relative ease! (me)

My daughter's little zodiac 500 pro with a 60hp merc 4 stroke fits the under 750kg trailer size and is a very capable boat offshore in adverse conditions. In saying that she's a commercial MD5 skipper and drives boats very well to the conditions she's in.
