Another Sharx wearer here. Current pair in their 4th season and holding up well. Comfy enough to wear ashore too. Rinse with fresh water after use to stop them humming though.

Fifth year in ridiculously coloured crocks, very good for absorbing glass shards off the beach and prom, happened twice now, saved me a trip to A & E, and with the 'battle straps' down they are the business in the water.

These are the perfect summer Ribbing shoe:
Head Coach Amphibious Aquashoes - Watersports Warehouse
They tick all the boxes. Good grip, mesh covered holes in the sole to stop sand getting in, but let water out, and protection for the toes. Oh, and they look a whole lot better than crocs

I've just ordered a set of these:
I had an interesting trip out today bare foot in some small swells, had it airborne at one point and my feet slipped all over the show resulting in nuts slamming onto the seat
I'm also investing in some sensible clothes as I looked a bit out of place surrounded by people in full waterproof Henry Lloyd gear and I'm in some swimming shorts and a Sons of Anarchy hoodie!

Those are the beginnings of scale growth as per crocodile skin. It means you're at one with your shoe.

Been out in my new Crocs this weekend as it goes, and I love 'em! (Ordered before this thread even started)
http://www.crocs.co.uk/crocs-yukon/1...footwear-clogs
No grip issues at all, not on a fairly bouncy crossing from Caernarfon to Ty Coch, nor at the bar of the Ty Coch Inn! Excellent summer boat/beach shoe IMHO, just don't wear em round town on a Saturday night and expect admiring glances.

I take a common sense approach to footwear on the rib, based on what I'm likely to be doing.
Slow cruising up and down the Hamble - flipflops
Extreme ribbing smashing into the wash of 60 footers - Dubarry Regattas
I've been a bit nerdy with regards to this. As I know from experience on our old Searider 5.4m that 'slipping off the helm' can be a painful and dangerous experience.
The Dubarry shoe has a footbed that your foot sits into, rather than one that sits 'ontop' on the sole. This means that is has a lot more sideways support. Additionally, one of the magazines tested these a few years ago, along with all of the decent deck shoes. They had the grippiest sole. So, I figure, this will give me the best chance of grip. Incidentally, washing the decks of 'dust' before going out also increases grip.
In the past 9 years of blasting around I've not lost grip.......(result)
I've tried driving fast in flipflops and I find that the soles can 'slip out' and this is a bit unsettling on the helm. To counteract this, I tried some Dubarry flipflops with a proper grippy sole. They didn't lose grip, however, the flip-flop didn't offer enough sideways support. This meant that whilst the flipflop would stay put on the deck, my foot would slide out of the flip-flop. So now I simply don't bother with flipflops, as IMHO, it's not worth the risk.
Go slow = flipflops Go fast = deck shoes
