what size engine can i put on a ribcraft 6.4

Hello
I have a ribcraft 6.4 with a 150 optimax, I want to put a 250 merc saltwater on it.
does anybody know if the boat would be safe and how she would perform with such a big lump on her.. many thanks

This sort of question comes up a lot on here. Check the search function for a fuller answer.
I cannot be specific how well or otherwise your hull will handle that much power as I do not know the Ribcraft 6.4 metre hull, but that is a huge engine to put on a hull of that length. I suspect that it will be massively over-powered. A quick check of the current Ribcraft specs quotes a max engine capacity of 175 HP. So you will invalidate any insurance that you have. Check the spec plate on your boat, usually on the transom, to see what the max engine capacity for your particular hull is, it can vary over the years.
