Suppose it all comes down to what your going to use it for, do you want lots of mounts, do you want time lapse shots, photo burst modes etc etc.
I went for the go pro specifically to mount to water ski's and photo bursts for horse jumping, (thats showjumping, not jumping horses on the ski's). We have just bought the gopole which gives some even better angles too.
Personal choice really of what you want to use it for and what you want to spend.

I use a gopro hero 2 when I remember to pack the memory card, bring the mounts, charge the battery, insert the anti-fog strips and turn the thing on or off when I'm not using it.

We will be using Veho Muvi cameras on the Round Britain trip - similar to GoPro but with a small lcd screen on the back as a viewfinder and remote controls they promise to make life easier.

which one out of interest? The brackets don't look very substantial on the veho website, or are you making your own?

We used two of the Muvi HD cameras with these mounts for a days filming in Southampton and they were great - they are actually very similar to the GoPro mounts and certain parts are interchangeable which is a real bonus!
The cradle mounts are fine for inside (we have a roof on our boat!) and the waterproof casings use the GoPro style mounts - we will post some Round Britain videos the first opportunity we get but it will depend on WiFi connections and editing time!
