What width leaning post for SRMN 600?

I'm purchasing a Zodiac SRMN 600 without any sort of seat and I'd like to add a leaning post. The catch is I don't yet have the boat, but would like to order the post now so I can install it as soon as the boat arrives. Any thoughts on the appropriate width for the leaning post for this boat?

Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

Chris

Hi Chris,

The flat deck area on the SRMN 600 is about 44" wide. Its wider from tube to tube but you have 44" of flat deck and then the deck angles up a bit.

I had the classic aluminum leaning bolster off the Hurricanes, its about 36" wide and fits OK on the SRMN. I wouldn't go wider than that otherwise it will be a tight squeeze to get around it. If I didnt have a single jockey seat I would be looking for a leaning post/bolster about 30" wide.

I just saw your other thread about consoles.. The large aluminum Hurricane console works good for the SRMN, although it takes a lot of the deck space and is super hard to find. There are custom aluminum consoles out there as well as readily available fiberglass consoles that will also be a good fit.

I might go with this one in the future:

I got a leaning post for my 7m from this guy. Good price and he did nice work, nothing fancy but solid. Had him make it taller and I think a custom width. I wanted something minimal.

Tworotorturbo - any advice on location of console? It will be something very similar to the CM Marine one you posted... Also- where did you find the fuel tank you have in front of the console?

Thanks!

I have the RDS 18G tank up front. I had an aluminum "cover" made for it so I could stand on it and load stuff on it without worrying. I would recommend putting the console more forward than the middle, for better weight balance. The SRMN seems to ride better with more of the load up front.
