Hi guys,

Basically me and a friend at work are looking for a Cheap rib with Outboard.
We would be only using it for fishing,
I have seen on Ebay you can get a package with a Engine for around £1000

If it is only for fishing, get yourself a nice 14ft hard boat with a recent sub-5hp motor. Dont discount buying separately.

I would be using it for Sea fishing,
Only in calm weather when the sea is flat.
Ok what SIB
Would be suitable for this?

Welcome to RIBnet carus007
I have a similar sized "tender", but with an airdeck that gives better performance underway. Mind you, I have a 9.8hp motor
Don't mind the comedians on here, the boat you are looking at isn't the best choice for what you want to do. Ideally, you are looking for a minimum of a 3.2m SIB (soft inflatable boat) with either a wood/ali deck or an airdeck, paired with a 10hp motor - preferably two stroke.
Your budget means second hand, but if you stretch it a touch - it should be doable. Older SIBs sell for very little money, not so older engines.
Talk it over with us. Some of us will be helpful...

the sea is rarely flat
others may disagree but you need a 3.5m to 4m sib with an inflatable hull ( so it will plane) with at least a 10hp engine.

Can you stretch to £1200? This would leave you 700 for an engine, should be do-able for something decent 5-10hp
Ask advise on here before buying there is a lot of knowledge here on whats good and whats junk.

Thanks for the reply,
Yes it something we are looking into, The budget I could raise to maybe £1500.
Basically we are looking for a SIB/RIB that we can go out fishing on in good weather, Flat sea so no wavy riders here.
Can you recommend any dealers who I should be talking too.
Also whats makes are good, Seen a Zodiac, Sunsport and a few others.
Also what would you recommend as a Outboard? Mercury?

There's an Avon Rover on here ( that I know nothing about) for £500 & get a 10-15 hp on it for @8-1200 then spend a small fortune on lifejackets/ancfor & chain& rope/ fishfinder etc etc etc then you're away !!!

haha sibs are great fun without the hassle of trailering, be aware they have limitations
3.5-4m minimum and in my opinion 15-25 hp be aware the bigger the engine the harder to transport
look into the honwave 4m (looks a lovely boat) which can be picked up for around £900 new leaving you £600 for an outboard you should be able to pick up an oldish 15hp for that
be aware they take up a massive amount of room in a car and you may prefer a rib !or even trailering in a box trailer
don`t be scared of buying second hand ,i picked an excell 365 airdeck up for £300 though it did need repairing though for fishing i`d prefer an alli floor

I'm with Extreme on this, if it's just for a couple of blokes to do a bit of inshore fishing in sheltered waters, then a small hard boat will give 'em much more bang for their buck. Any RIB/SIB combo they manage to buy for their budget is either going to be tiny or a project. If it's the "tiny" option, by the time you chuck a couple of blokes in, fishing gear, cool box, fuel tank, anchor etc there's going to be bugger all room for any fish. Ideally you need to be stood up to fish, if they hook a biggun, & with no space to manoeuvre, someone will end up over the side. A small Shetland or similar, will have more freeboard, more room & be better suited to the task IMHO.
