Some insurance companies give you cover on what banding your boats fits into.
For example:
if the value of the boat is:
between 0 and £5k the premium is £x/year
between £5k and £10k the premium is £y/year
between £10k and £15k the premium is £z/year
etcetc
The banding is normally what you paid/value the boat at.
Older boats need a surveyors report on seaworthyness (not sure of spelling!)also

I guess like all these things insurance companies will take whatever premiums that they/you think are appropriate.
The difficulty comes when you make a claim and you have to prove the worth of you boat - then the fun and games start.
Let us know how you got on in the end.
Best of luck.

If it helps, I just sold the sr4 that i had (about same age), needed mainly cosmetic work (seats recovering, new windscreen, servicing and a general clean up) to a dealer for £1400. He reckons on retailing finished at around £2,500 to £3,000... Good mark up if you ask me, but everyone has to make a profit!

Only replacing engine, extra jockey seats (been made, just waiting to fit) plus new electronics (Gps/Vhf) and possibly trailer (trailer on its ok for local movement) but I want to go a bit further away and dont feel confident on existing trailer!!

Engine was fitted last Monday, hopefully getting out and about this Mon/Tues. Pics of it in 'Rib Gallery'

I'd say 2k if its tidy and up to 3k if it's a stunner with great engine and trailer in A1 condition and you can find someone who really wants one

Problem is most of them are a labour of love like old cars, worth a lot to you and you only

Now what you can insure it for and what they'll pay out is another story

How much for a new hull?

I emailed Pacer marine about the cot of a new hull and it was only about 5k with no console etc.

A new hull wasnt that expensive if you think a retube is 2-2.5k.

I am looking for one, but almost concidered buying a new hull.

I'd say it's worth around £2500, chewy. I've seen newer boats with Yam 50 PTT motors make £3k.

I was thinking somewhere around £2000-2500. With the trailer and everything I'll go for around £2500.
