What's the best boat brand?
What's the best brands for RIB boats in your opinion?
Make it in list form if you wish, and of course it would be nice to hear pros and cons but just your preference will do good!

How long is a piece of string?
I would say valiant as I have one and am bias. They are reasonable priced, fast, good layout, look good and well built.

Well I'm pretty sure that I would get lots of responses such as "mercedes" or similar if I asked what the best car brand is.. So I'm pretty sure you guys got opinions too. OR opinions on what brands to avoid.

It wouldn't be weird to ask what's the best song ever, or the best album. It's not at all like asking how long a piece of string is.

That's more like it Anyone else found that the build quality is worse on one brand than another, or that they are more prone to need repairs etc?

Right.. In other areas it's usually some of the most expensive options that's a really bad buy, as they are worse than many of the cheaper options.

Define 'best'??! It's impossible - best for what??
Boats are all about compromise - and all of us have different criteria.

Hi Patrik - welcome to RIBnet.
The problem that we have with your question is that (in many ways) it has been asked here before and has caused much debate, merriment and unhappiness. We are a group of very different people and we try not to p1$$ each other off too much (OK, I try to p1$$ Mollers off a bit, but that's his Karma calling in the debt )
Having said that, obviously Redbay make the best RIBs (lots going to Sweden) and Quicksilver make the bestest small toy SIBs...

Patrik, if you're interested in buying a rib, you could give us some idea of what you're looking for. We could probably give much more useful advice that way. ie cruising area, budget, person capacity, whether you're trailering etc etc

Patrick, are you looking for the Mercedes of the rib world then or the Ford? You might well argue either is best - depending how you think of cost, quality, design, brand reputation etc.
There is a big difference between a scorpion or a goldfish and a ribcraft or an osprey. And that is without thinking about the mass produced brands like zodiac or valiant.

Tried it, didn't get as much attention as this one though
However, I'm totally new to this so I haven't even got the vaguest idea of what's good and what's not, so I don't know what I can choose between. I'd like to have the clever buy that doesn't break and handles well, such as - since I'm swedish - the volvo would be in cars. However, it wouldn't be bad if it was more fun to drive though. But speed and agility isn't the most important thing, I'd rather have a stable one that takes bad water better.
And I'm looking for something that could easily be carried by a few persons, just a plain flat floor and so on. Perhaps in the 3-5 meters range.
2 people would ride often, 3 at most.
The only brands I've heard of before is Zodiac and Quicksilver. Zodiac seems to be the easiest to find in sweden, in the second hand market. But if it's no good, I'd rather increase the budget..

You don't want a flat bottom as it will decrease the performance and stability alot I found this out the hard way when I bought a little suzumar. But since joining and reading on here alot of people praise the bombard 3.80 aero deck.

Oh I'm sorry, no I want RIB... Not inflatable bottom. I just thought of the inside floor of the boat, I don't know the correct term for it. Thanks though!
So does the "mass produced" comment about Zodiac mean that they are no good?
