Age, maybe. I have found in the past that its the condition not the age thats important with boats, in the majority of cases they are not used daily like a car so get relatively little use, if you can find one thats only used a few sunny days a year your onto a winner.

Yes it a bit funny looking the steering wheel is almost Flat infront of you .Tubes that old can't have much life left surely , especially if as you say they had problems anyway .

That searider with the Honda on ebay looks like a very old boat , the consul etc is a bit basic and the a frame looks like a coat hanger .

I would give that Tornado your referring to a miss, the best bit being the engine. With regard to the Avon is a bit basic, my estimate being early to mid '90s for the hull, very good boats though.

It's got the magic 4-stroke.

Not bad looking little boat that . Maybe a bit on the small side and hard to see the hull shape .
Don't think it would be as quick as the Valiant ?

50 hp on one of those should be very quick.
I've driven it's bigger brother, a 5.2 (1991 vintage) with a 50 Yam and it was really impressive, for the power. We skiied behind it with 4 on board and one in the water. They're quite a light boat, and not the best built, but good for the money. Can't honestly say anything on the 4.5, as I've never been on one. 50 Honda is a good lump though.

Yes I know its one of the best 50's but I could wait 8 days and not win it and lose the Valiant .
Think I prefer the little extra room on the valiant

I would too. 4.5 is a bit small for what you have in mind - not nuch bigger than your SIB really.
