I saw something about the Cotswolds waterparks last year on the news and on tv it looked pretty good - even had a beach - not sure whether it's fit/useable for ribs though?

RIBase
Is there room to get her into that short stretch of canal by the Shell garage on the way from Stonehouse to the M5?

Thx guys, yes I think Sharpness might be worth a try. Dont think there is anywhere to launch on the stretch between the M5 and sotnehouse NOS but thanks for the reply. There is a lake at Cirencester that you can hire for a half or whole day and a lot of people hire it for weekends for wakeboarding etc however you do have to pay £50 for a half day and 90 for a full day.

Sharpness has no slipway, Bristol Docks have a nice slip by force four chandler's. Details can be found on boatlaunch.co.uk, only problem is speed limited to 5 Knots in the harbour and the lock which opens to the Avon is is only available for about 3 hours per tide.

PS
is that your ospray for sale on boatsandoutboards?

Thanks John, I think that may be the best bet.

Yes put my Osprey on B&O because we are looking at getting a larger house however I have actually taken the advert off for the moment as I had such a great day out on Saturday I can't bring myself to sell it yet, also had a guy take a look who wanted to finance it and has promised to get back to me within 10 days however he's not answering his phone now which is probably a good thing cause i'm not selling it now

Any chance you can talk to whoever runs the cash drawer, tell them that you just need to do a bit of testing, and ask for a discount? Worst they could say would be "no", I'd think.

Chris,

There's no slip at Sharpness.

Slips onto the Severn are at Minsterworth (contact the water ski club), Avon Sailing Club (at Chaceley), and a couple of private ones at Epney and Hempstead village. Other than that, nip round to the public slipway at Beachley under the old Severn Bridge on the far side. Interesting tides down there though!

You'll need to be licenced to launch into British Waterways rivers - the process and costs are a rip-off so I don't bother.

For other waters, yes there's the Water Park at South Cerney.

Drop me a PM if you need more info.

Simon

Portishead slipway

No use for you now I'm afraid but Portishead Marina has a slipway under construction. Due to be opened at Easter (although last time we checked there was a hitch with one of the concrete sections which may push it back a bit). It will be a tractor launch by marina staff and don't have details of costs yet. When the old slip was open it was £15 for launch including lock fees so will probably be more than that.
