You might encounter a couple of problems...

1 - It's the end of the season, I don't think there are any more fixtures until the "Basic" races in February and April next year.

2 - Your 7m RIB with a 150 will be eligible for Basic and F200 categories only, but only likely to be competetive in Basic, I think.

HTH!

Race a zapcat! Quite a few races down cornwall way. Just spoken to craig who raced this weekend at watergate bay in newquay. He told me the surf was 12ft and he flipped for the first time!

Ah, not sure where he was measuring from? See www.magicseaweed.com. Surf topped out at about 6ft over the weekend, it's gonna peak at 12 midweek. That is massive! Old longboarders like me will suppin' the hot choc in front of the fire.

Nice one!

I'm always suspicious when people quote exact dimensions for wave heights. What the hell did they do, get out with a tape measure?

The Exe powerboat and ski club do some club stuff, and have a look at RYA.org for calendar and license info or email me and I'll tell you what you need to know - we're based near Salcombe and happy to help!

Some people use wave or swell height - which is the trough to peak height of the wave in the open ocean - which is the 6ft on Magicseaweed - but some surfers use the mythical 'wave-face' height, which can (in perfect conditions, so I am led to believe) be double the wave height as it breaks - if held up by the wind, giving really hollow conditions - whoa dude....

Which might explain it...

Anyway - apparently at 10pm this evening at Barmouth - 7.5ft swell, 5* rated swell, raining, but the sun will be popping out from behind the rain cloud ( ), I might have to get my shortboard out......NOT...

[QUOTE=DGR] Some people use wave or swell height. Now if you're talkin' "Swell Height", you need to speak to my missus. She's an expert. Calm down John! She's an Oceanographer, honest!

That's what I tend to do (altho' definitions vary). A quick glance over boat length (known length) and then at the vertical face looming ahead gives me a fair idea.
Dimensions can be deceptive , particularly in open sea.
