Where to Launch South Wales / along Welsh boarder

Hi guys,

Looking at buying a new RIB from the south of England. The seller has agreed to meet half way and save some of my travel time.

I am looking at coming though Liverpool and then head south to the south of Wales / along the boarder. Potentially also looking at the River Severn / River Avon or in around this area. Only looking to throw the boat into the water to test the engine and give the boat a good overview.

Any help would be much appreciated!

Thanks!

Hi,

Cardiff Bay is usually a great place, fairly sheltered & nice wide slip, but I think Wales is still closed... Slipway Permits - CBWAC - Cardiff Rowing Centre

Maybe somewhere in Bristol harbour (just watch out for statues) ? I've only used the small slip by the pub but this one looks better: https://www.bristolmarina.co.uk/inde...id=25&Itemid=6

There might be something at Cotswold Water Park but it's a bit of a mission finding out who owns which lakes and what's permitted, I didn't really have much success when I lived near there but you might find something:

Hope that helps a bit... I'm sure someone more knowledgeable will be along now in a minute.

RIBase
Evesham on the Avon, Tewkesbury or Upton Marina on the Severn maybe your best bets.

Sorry to say that Bristol (floating) harbour is not yet fully open. It has opened to established clubs this week, but not to private leisure craft yet. Bristol harbour website and Facebook pages will give further details as things progress. West Bay (Bridport harbour) on Dorset coast is open, with restrictions. Good place to give a boat a proper run, but a long way south for you.
Hope you find somewhere suitable.

Thanks guys!
Think I might end up using the Avon / Severn River.
Thanks!
