Hi Sprocket, i am based in Aus and we have a very small range here compared to europe. I bought a BRIG Falcon 620 in 2011 and have just sold it after 5 years, these are made in the Ukraine, from my experience only it was a fine little boat, i used it for crossing coastal bars to fish and also leisure and snorkelling, ran great with a 115hp and used little fuel, handled the large bay chop we get here in brisbane nicely also.I regret selling it but was not using it at the time. I find now like you i am looking again but maybe in the 7-8m range and have been trying to read as much about the brands we dont get here, safety and rough sea handling are my main interest as opposed to luxury but the number of brands in europe is mind boggling, will look forward to hearing how you go and reading the other replies.

They import many Parker Boats (there is even a Parker Boats Australia owners club on FB) so it should not be a problem to get a Parker rib from them.

If it was a broker acting for me I would have shown some concern for selling it for more than I paid for it... in fact if it was possible ... I would have informed the buyer. But that's just me.... I like to think of myself as a nicer terwat.[emoji6]

i think a better song would be Blur- Country House with a slight tweak to the words-
"lives in a house, a chinese built house in the country. The crappy house blew away and now sleeping on bales of hay in the country"

My 'Japanese' Suzuki DF 20AS was manufactured in the Philippines.
There's no doubt labour is cheaper in these countries, I'm an IT engineer constantly at risk of redundancy due to Bestshore practises. They can get 3 Bulgarians for the price of a UK guy but even the Bulgarians have been losing their jobs to India these last few years. They don't even pay the Indians what they deserve so there's a constant turnover of new staff to train. It's not like we are anywhere close to being a loss making company!
Back to China. It appears to have questionable state-sponsored business practises to gain market share and displace US&UK products if what I read is true. I'm not against Chinese goods but these do tend to be cheap imitations of poorer quality. I wonder what conditions these workers have and how well they are paid? Should we support that by buying Chinese? Personal choice, no choice, I don't know.

My wife's 2011 Ford Focus was built in Germany, from 2012 they are made in Thailand. Most of the major car manufactures now come out of Asia, yes they still have small factories dotted around but the bulk I'd from Asia.
When I bought my Zodiac I researched it thoroughly, the only place I found anything negative on my model was actually on here. I spoke with marine rescue groups, maritime, and comercial dive operators who all highly recommended them. I even spoke with a repair buisness who specialised in keeping the Navy ribs in top shape, who quoted zodiac as being the best they work with in terms of tube build.
I would love to try some of the UK built boats but unfortunately very few make it to the side of the pond. I really like the look of some of the U.K. boats, not so keen of the look of my own zodiac.

The Chinese rib question has been done to death on this forum. As Jambo rightly points out the discussions has just become ridiculous so I have moved the worst of it over here http://www.rib.net/forum/f51/trolls-...ges-80224.html . I don't see the rest of this thread going anywhere useful though so will close it.
