O brien dalloo. I don’t have a ladder. From in the water I have large trim tabs they can stand on and then onto aft step of outboard well. Last time I dragged them up to boat and they just stepped on back of outboard well.

Every rib I have had, I’ve fitted trim tabs and they have functioned very well as steps. Even rescued two big lads who were to rotund to get back on their jet ski without capsizing. Never had a need for a step.

For recovery of people I have a robe strop with snap hooks at either end which acts as a stirrup to step up and over the tubes. This is primarily the strop I use to secure the anchor line.

Thank you. I just bought something along those lines. Initially I tried to find the plastic stirrup Salty Pete uses. But I couldn't find anything suitable on Ebay UK. So I went for a ribstep stirrup. It has 2 steps to accommodate different heights. It is sold as specifically not being a ladder.

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Rib-Inflata...89929650&psc=1

Ive seen a video showing it in action and it appears to be easy to use. It works just as you describe. I intend to use it for boarding from the water. It looks well made, and has 316 stainless buckles. I will add a stainless carabiner, or similar, to attach it to a suitably strong point on the boat.
Its lightweight, rot resistant, and stows away very small. I think it could be attached and out of the way but accessible, if required quickly, such as in a MOB situation, as well as for normal use. Being made from wide webbing it shouldn't damage the tubes or be uncomfortable on your feet. So overall, I'm hopeful it will be a useful piece of kit.
There are cheaper versions I looked at. Copies. But when I asked them if the buckles were 316, they didn't reply so I went with these guys, paid about £9 more, but am very pleased with it.

Looks good - you may find it tends to float not hang down, if so add some weight to the lower stirrup.

Which towable?

Carry a Ribstep always clipped inboard to the transom on both our ribs and sib, easy to reach from the water in an emergency. Great piece of kit and we use regularly for climbing aboard after skiing/wakeboarding etc.

The genuine Ribstep is far superior to the lightweight/flimsy copies, does not require any weighting and maintains its shape in the water. Just remember it’s a ‘step up’ aid and not a rigid ladder.

PS: On the towable front the steerable Airhead Slash II seems to be the go to choice from the toy cupboard.

Thank you. Good to know. And I appreciate the nod on the Slash II
