This quote from Fjordrafting may be of use if you are after a Revenger
"Hi!
I do not know to whom you are adressing this post, but I might help you a little bit.
We are a searaftingcompany, www.fjordrafting.no, and we (ab)use our boats. We do own a 29 Revenger and it is extremely good. It handles the waves better than our 36 feet ribs. It is a dream to drive, it is very though built. My friend has a searaftingcompany called havrafting.no, and they have had their 29 Revenger for 3 years. This boat has never seen calm weather and nothing has broke. It is fast and it is steady. Last year we had an other 29 feet long rib and that could not handle the same high speed turns as our 29 with stepped hull. We will not tell you about the extreme turns we do beacause you will not belive it. But doing the same with our past boat flipped passengers over board. In the Revenger, we can do this turn all day.
We have already decided to order one more Revenger!
And about the engine, you will have to look very hard to find a faster hull. The Marc Pascoe-hull might be faster, but at a price three times the prise of a Revenger-hull. We know because we got quotes on both theese boats four months ago. A 300hp would give you around 52-55knots, depending what you want. (how high you put the engine, what propeller, what engine etc.)
Good luck"

They had one at ribex with a pair of 250 etecs, said they hadn't had it flat out all weekend because it was pushing on past 70mph and that was scary in the F5-6 it was blowing.
Maybe they consider 250's slightly overpowered. Pair of 225's would still be rapid though!

I'll ask the question although they did say a stepped-hull 29 had clocked 87mph with 2x250's.

another option?
hello there, interesting forum, i would like to add HUMBER to the mix, although they dont have the prestige as some ribs, for say style, they are awesome boats, and built especially for the rough stuff, i guess i may be slighly biased owning a 6.3m humber ocean pro...
seriously have a look at their larger hulls, they would be competitively priced too, and there is a tour operator, one in swansea bay, and another in st johns, pembrokeshire where they run 10m humber ocean pros with twin evinrude 250s! definately worth a look in, we managed to have a trial in them, very fast boats, handle chop with ease, and they look nice after you have kitted them up to how you like them! and if i could afford it, although there are many other ribs around, itd be the one id go for, although a cabin to hide behind occasionally is appealing, dont know if thats what youd like, but i guess itd be worth asking humber and seeing what they can do. build time isnt too bad, took about 8 weeks for mine to be completed!

Couldn't agree more - great in the rough stuff but speed not in same class as a Revenger.
Like this one you mean???

thats the one codders! hull and engines........excellent, just a bit of customising needed in the interior, lol, take some bashing do those ribs! i think that buying a rib is a compromise, as the best offshore RIB is unlikely to be the fastest!

That's the trouble - my ideal RIB would have the upswept bow of a humber - the build and lack of transom of an Ocean dynamics - and the stepped hull of a Revenger!!!

Having obtained my commercial licence last year, I drive these 10m Humbers up here in Scotland in my spare time (great hobby!) and I can confirm that they are the most capable RIBs I have ever driven. They certainly eat the rough stuff like it isn't there and are at their best when fully loaded (12 passengers plus 2 crew). They are primarily designed as commercial passenger boats, so whether one would be appropriate for private use is, I guess, debatable.
The hulls and tubes are delivered by Humber, the rest of the fit-out is completed by Quinquari Marine. You can find them at: http://www.quinquarimarine.co.uk/

humbers
yeah i agree with what has been said regarding humbers, but i assume that once all equipment is fixed, suitable to say leisure use, the weight would add up, which would help, but yeah not sure how it would be with low numbers of people on board, id be willing to give it a try

Have a look at Solent ribs their 7.5 will take twins and they give you a bit of free range when it comes to layout www.solentribs.com just another option for you to consider.
