Who has been out in the cold weather?

Just wondering- having spent the last 2 days out on the water what the worst weather you have been out on a RIB in/on?

We were at -3'c yesterday ( without any windchill), and about -1 in the dark , and snow today !

I think Bogi may have done worse ?

Although it was for work, Last year up in Aukra (near Moldre) in Norway, took the Zodiac rescue boat out for its monthly test run, it was -13 . It was a 'dry' cold though and, wrapped up nice and warm in the survival suit it was actually quite enjoyable......

Was out off Hayling island at the weekend testing the new boat before taking it home to Dublin.. Had to clear the ice off the cushions before going out but it was absolutely fantastic.. I think it was around -2 .. Spent about an hour out there.. It certainly woke me up anyway!!(note to self- next time bring warmer gloves and a pair of glasses!!)  Hoping to get out on the water here at home for the first time this weekend.. No matter what the weather is like!! 

One of our crew is doing her B class helms there at the moment....night excercises last night and tonight....Brrr. We've got inspection /excercise tonight....hopefully will have had chance to warm up before heading out again

We have been out sampling over the past few days....pretty chilly.....but felt most sorry for the swans dodging the ice on the Ebb tide in the Teifi....always stunning looking at the icy (N Pembs) and snowy (North Wales) mountains from sea though

Slightly off topic, this from today's newspaper in Helsinki. This guy tried to rescue his boat with a chainsaw, pushing the loose ice under the firm ice and pulling the boat in the open water. Bet he will lift it earlier next season if he will continue boating....

Pretty unusual to have such conditions so early, might be a harsh winter.

We don't get too much freezing temps on the Texas coast, but it is not unusual on inland waters to have to break open holes in the ice to put out decoys when duck hunting. Usually not done from the rib though.

Hamburg last Sunday (Nov 28): -7C but sunny, no wind. But had to break my way out thru ice. Spent most of the time to get the knots in the mooring loose.
Have to admit was the last day in the water, took it out now. Had an ice cube under the crane...

regards
Jan
