Why have the RNLI geckos a strip of velcro

As per the title why do the RNLI brain buckets have a strip of velcro on them?

There is a small torch in each RNLI crew lifejacket and this can be attached to the velcro strip on their helmet for maximum visibility.

Should the 'poo hit the fan' - it's to attach your life jacket light to the top of your helmet to improve it's visibility.

Exactly right the life jacket light has a velcro strip and the idea is you put it on your helmet as it's the highest point. Remember it's rough when they go out.

Also as RNLI Y boats are not fitted with Nav lights it doubles up for a good all-around white light should the need arise ; ) .Click image for larger version
