I know I already posted this link on your other thread, but here is something to think about. We bought our boat, which is very similar spec to the boat you see here for about about the same price last yr. After a seasons use and the addition of various electronic equipment, we sold the boat for quite a significant profit and this profit takes into account all our fuel & servicing bills as well.

Thats my boat sold it in october.

And it really was a brilliant boat, fast with a small engine and handled like a dream. You wont go wrong with one of them and im glad to hear of someone else loving their V-490.

ps. I bought that boat for £4500 in 2000 and sold it in 2003 for askign price.

I thought it might be you alright, when I saw the name Simmons, as I knew there was a Simmons on the forum. Your Valiant was almost identical to mine. Great to hear you made a profit as well, must be something about Valiants, eh? Nice boat to start with, although 75hp on the back of our old one was a bit crazy to start with as a rookie!!!

SELVA ribs got a very bad write up in Rib International a few years ago.
Valiant OK - mass produced & appear to be good VFM. Can't comment on Narwhal.

Not sure what your budget is but Ribcraft 4.8m seems a deservedly popular choice for a starter RIB. Worth thinking about?

Gary D - Join the club mate - No probs with these little boats!
Mine is going in the water Friday for the first time this year. 2 - 3 days down in sunny Galloway with another 2 new boats (Once you give someone a go in a guid wee rib, they go and buy their own! Then home on monday via Loch Lomond to give the outfits a good rinse out in freshwater. Should be a blast!

Where do you normally launch from - Inverkip? And whats it like round that way?

Alright Bill, yeah usually launch from Kip marina. Planning on leaving the boat in there for a couple of months once the weather gets a bit better.

Its good around our area many places to go, Rothesay, Millport and up the lochs.

If the weather is good this weekend might even go round to Loch Lomond for the day!

We have friends who live on shore front at Salcoats - own access to beach (complete with 4wd quad) - we really should go visiting them more often I'm thinking! Mmmmmnnnnn....yeah.... I can just see the ladies sitting in their conservatory, sipping cups of Lady Grey, while I dissapear into the horizon to indulge in some nautical exploration! Dammit - I got to get on the water.

Be nice to arrange a meet over that way during the summer, its much more fun (and sensible) when there's more than one boat involved. Wot you reckon?

I've got a mate with a 6.0 meter coastline and another with a Fletcher Speed boat that would probably be up for a meet up aswell...
