220l - 200hp. Interesting observation but surely a sign of an idle mind!

Pac 22

At build - 140hp 90 litres
Now - 240hp 150 litres

Whilst there is a correlation - bigger engine = more fuel, I'd say there are probably a few factors that influence it - purpose for example - daughter craft = 0.5 * power, recreational = 1.0 * power, SAR = 1.5 * power. Geographic area might have an influence.

It would be quite an interesting exercise to do.

53 litres and 70hp. I cry a little when I fill it.

Those with 200 litres+... I'd need a crash team on the forecourt during a fuel top up!

The first time I filled mine up on a forecourt from empty a woman was complaining to the cashier about me blocking 2 pumps.

The cashier said 'He can do what he wants, he's just bought more fuel than the last 10 cars.'

Absolutely. I just hit on the notion the other day. It was something Nos said that piqued my interest. I think, for RIBs, that's it a happy co-incidence. It won't apply to Diesel rigs or Special purpose craft. But it's there or thereabouts for most petrol RIBs...

I suspect.

Still good range - 120NM.

When the Fox was in service (as it were) she had 2x75's v.s 2x81 litre tanks

it closer now i have upped the HP to 90's - perhaps subconsciously i was thinking the same thing when i bought them...

...and as for the forecourt gag - the other week i was asked to hurry up (in Mallaig) as he wanted to close up at 2.00pm for the (Saturday) afternoon. Half the problem is his pumps won't let you put more than £100 in at a time. Nice bloke but he knows he has a monopoly...

Wet Sunday afternoon task - shows how bored I am unable to rib - tipping with rain and have snapped bicep tendon (ouch).
Wilk rule of thumb 2 seems pretty accurate on the 32 rib sample on this thread....Fuel tank size in litres is 0.92 of associated Engine HP.

Even if I did that maths I'm not sure I'd admit to it.
BTW, what was the Standard Deviation?

Why thank you Mister Terrier. The willkcraft is 450L/370hp - but then, she's rated for 500hp.....

Mr Willk could you please advise the propulsion on the Willkcraft? Single or double diesels into stern drives or more exotic??

As with many “laws” I suspect many misunderstood it though. Certainly some of the data points are for the actual HP they have fitted not the maximum outboard HP the hull is rated for as originally proposed!

Since he’s not around - he runs a single diesel through a standard stern drive.

I think you’ll find it was “recommended” petrol HP
