Windy!

Had a nose at broadmarsh at havant+hayling island at lunchtime - even in the harbour big old swell , couple of moored up fishing boats getting a bit of stick - id be panicking if my boat was on a mooring!

Can see the Severn Estuary out of my office window and has been lumpy all day seems to be building up.

Nearest met bouy is Turbot Bank which has seen a steady increase since midnight 18 kts to 30.8 kts at 1500 this afternoon. Similar figures for the Pembroke bouy too.

Even inside the barrage is taking a bit of a beating.

Fantastic website - will use it a lot!!!

Makes a change to see somewhere on the SE coast with high winds - they are obviously more southerly than usual - normally the big blows come from the SW so Wales and Cornwall always seem to get the worst of it.

Well, you're all in the wrong place!

Cruisin' on autopilot at 3000rpm, just popped a CD in, sat back and enjoyed. Arrived at friends 50mins later, had coffee with scones and strawberry jam then dropped in at Port Edgar to have a mosey around Hightower's Halmatic. Scooted home at dusk on even smoother water with the lights of Edinburgh against a backdrop of Arthur's Seat and the castle. Lotsa wildlife too. A cool day.

It'd be handy if the turbot bank buoy provided a 'gust' section on the website - I think it shows an average windspeed over a period of time.

We clocked only 47knots in Milford this morning, and 40 at Pembroke where the ferry ties up.... last week it peaked over 53knots, so lastnight was not so bad. Saying that however, we nearly did reach 7metre swell this morning on the dropping tide, but as the wind dropped, so did the swell - it looked quite interesting from the office watching the waves crash onto St Anns about 6 miles down river though.

Tomorrow and the weekend looks ok tho - shame the tides are screwed up

when I looked at the data from the pembroke buoy I noticed windspeed had dropped to about 30kts but the tide hight was about 20' - pretty rough then!!!

Just how bad did it get in Dorset the other night? Wasn't very bad in Swansea area and I was checking the weather buoys etc and they didn't seem to be any worse down there.

The reason I ask is this quote from the Police looking for the missing boys.

That looks awesome but even so no way is 71mph that bad a gust - they have had over well over 100kts before now so how can anyone say "worst in living memory"???

Interesting stuff about the weather, good to see the RNLI were out trg at Bournemouth on thursday morining and again later that night. So about not supporting them and the lack of commitment you were talking about.
