Word Association - Delta

Now before people moan, i have done a search through the old posts but....

If i said to you delta, you would say....(insert phrase here)

I have heard
Good sturdy boats
and
Disappointed with finished article

Anyone else to add to that? Particulary interested with sea worthiness, as test drove one on possibly the flatest water ever seen in Soton! despite the Fastcat wake it wasn't much of a test!

Regards

When I think of Delta RIBS I think of commercial applications, twin outboards and that big high pointy bow they seem to have

Sorry dad….

Delta RIB’s are very capable and have deep V and as stated high bows… the Police have one in the forth seams to go all right with twin 90’s

Hard ride, very wet. Impressive build quality and seakeeping though. Probably very expensive.

Delta

Very strong.

Comfortable for private use???

Mate has 6.5. He finds it very bouncy and has had to sandbag the bow locker to keep the bow down in the bouncy stuff.

What is the visibility like with the raised bow?

Soft ride , very stable, dry except for smacking through waves hitting the front quarter at an angle, still haven't managed to stuff the bow and been out in 3m+ swells.
1st trip out, me & RNLI buddy got waved over to pick up a jetskier in difficulties - wind recorded as force 6 and waves breaking over a reef 20m from the outside harbour wall - Due to my novice heart-in-mouth ineptitude we became swamped via the transom with a rope around the prop....My pro buddy cut us free and we got the skier on board and had the jetski on a tow.
Bilge is full, we're up to our knees in water and it's just the tubes keeping us afloat. The engine is cold and won't take power above tickover with the semi-submerged jetski acting as an effective sea anchor, but we manage to self-recover to harbour 300m away at about 3 knots.
This is in a 15 year old Delta on original tubes.
I would not have any another brand.

Delta has to mean indestructable.

My 6.7 was like a brick outhouse and would win any race in rough weather. Very comfortable an safe feeling.

Does Babcocks mean anything to you???

Now this is an intersting thread, interesting because I asked about Deltas a couple of weeks ago and I'm also thinking about buying one as well!

I talked yesterday to a chap from Wales who instructs the MOD and Police RIB drivers. He has thus far used Deltas, but recommends anyone who is thinking about a Delta also to contact MST, in Liverpool. Apparently Delta's chief designer now works for MST, along with another couple of guys from Delta, and he highly recommends their product, which he believes are even better finished than Deltas.

Now the problem is, as has been mentioned already, Delta (and likely MST) are very expensive boats. Is the commercial build and quality worth all the extra expense and will the re-sale values of their boats reflect this? That is the big question, and one I'm struggling with at the moment. I've been quoted a whopping £70K for a Delta SX840 with Yamaha 422 diesel, and that doesn't include a trailer!!!

Well i'll stick up for them on account i've had one for 6 years.
Its a fantastic sea boat and very solid in construction.
My tubes are yellow and admittedly starting to look grubby but still no holes, leaks and its 13 yeasr old.
oh its a delta dash 5.5 with two 65's suzukis... top wack 36 knots but a little thirsty i admit.
Will probably sell her next spring as i do want something bigger for the family.
I'll agree about redbay as well as we have one at work which is on 1300 hours after 19 months and will look at one of those myself.
