Been fiddling with bearings...old ones installed wrong ! ( inside with seal put on outside of hub- on both sides) , so grease just coming out the back of the hub.
Bearings themselves not too bad, but clearly have been hamered in ( lots of impact marks on themn& bent roller cage). Outer races very very pitted

One side of bearings done , mudguard on , sprayed in leg & cowl tonight ...
Just need to ;
Do other bearing/hub
Screw down seat legs
Start the chuffin engine again
Secure petrol tank
Buy a new kill switch ( old one 'leaking' current ) and install it.
Buy a new petrol line plug ( old one squirting petrol all over when pumped the bulb )
Thanks to NOS for the right paint ....old seemed to have faded lots in 22 years !

OB looking much better ...
I like the 'special' opti look and the chrome on the '40' was shot- so its all Yam blue now. Hard to see the improvement overall until I look back at the original pics....
Started it tonight ..I think its the first time I have ever suffered from stale petrol - just nothing after 15 pulls- not so much as one cylinder firing , checked spark ( again) all petrol lines - all good.
Squirted some new petrol in each carb ....fired up and ran no problem. Maybe the old petrol just not enough in it to 'go' , but once running and temps/ pressures are up it runs on the old gas fine ?
Short list now,
One bearing
Screw stainless seat legs to deck
Try it !!! Work really does get in the way !
I see NathanK SR is on ebay ...think mines better looking !

My work is done. Grabbed half an hour out of Christchurch this morning
Great fun - but very cold on the hands...I'll be making a small screen for some shelter I think.

Cheers Nos. After everything was warmed up the engine ran well. I tweaked the idle speed a fraction as I felt it was too low, and I need to tighten and seal the bolts on the d ring as it leaked at rest. I thought I'd done a whisper and left holes in the deck...
Still need to secure the tank inside the seat as its bumping about a bit.
Apart from that, some more cosmetic bits and it can go live in its garage for the winter with the odd blast out before spring.
Unless anyone wants to buy it ?
