20 year old here. Had a Lencraft 5.5m, bought a small sports cruiser and just bought myself a 25ft sports cruiser. Plan on buying another RIB next year. (No, it's not daddy's money, i'm self employed)

Of course we all hope that this thread should have started in the joke section and is not a reflection of the IQ of British youth.

It might not seem like a major deal on a big site like this one, but I frequent quite a few smaller forums, and I use derivations of the same username throughout. People hold grudges for all sorts of reasons and the odd bit of personal info dotted about here and there can soon be traced and used to track users down. With a location, age / DOB and knowledge of interests, how hard do you think it would be to find someone?
Yes, maybe I AM paranoid, but I'd rather not take the risk.

I presume you are referring to their use of txt spk? If so, I think you'll find that it has little bearing on their IQ, and that it's a global phenomenon rather that a particularly British trait.
Interestingly studies have shown that teenagers are actually quite skilled at switching contexts, using txt spk on their phones and more formal writing where appropriate.
Which is just as well, as RIBnet is one of the places where txt spk generally isn't appreciated.
msg 2 r yoofs
ive n tym 4 dis lazy sloppy lngwij. it takz me ages 2 snd a txt, cuz i evn nclud al d punctuation. i reserve d rght 2 act n d intrstz of d grumpy majority & insist on d uz of passable eng on ribnet. msgz n txt spk ma b deleted w/o warning!
Despite some superficial similarities, txt spk should not be confused with gArf spk which is in a completely different league of course!

I always include all the punctuation in my text messages, really does my head in trying to read some of the stuff that people write, each to there own and all that. I'd rather send three joint text messages rather than one that takes 5 minutes to understand!
Capitalisation is probably the only thing I don't worry about when I send text messages, but that generally doesnt effect the way things are read!
